AZ Citizen Corps

Arizona State Citizen Corps Council was established to provide public education, training, and volunteer opportunities to support community and family safety.

CitizenCorps

Citizen Corps Councils provide the local management structure for volunteer opportunities and for public education and awareness efforts.

FEMA

FEMA is the federal organization for emergency management and has been named as the parent organization for Citizen Corps.  The FEMA website has a link to Citizen Corps as well as several other volunteer programs.

USA on Watch The Neighborhood Watch Program has a long history and is a very successful program, which has been integrated into Citizen Corps.  The program falls under the umbrella of a national program know as USA on Watch.

CERT

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

VIPS The Volunteers in Police Service assists citizens in supporting the efforts of their state and local law enforcement agencies to protect communities from crime and terrorism.

MSC

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is schedule to go on-line later this summer. MRC will coordinate the skills of practicing and retired physicians, nurses, and other health professionals who are eager to volunteer during emergency situations.  MRC will provide communities with medical volunteers who can assist health professionals during a large-scale local emergency. Local community officials will develop their own Medical Reserve Corps and identify the duties of the MRC volunteers according to specific community needs.

FIRE Corps

The mission of the Fire Corps is to increase the capacity of volunteer, career, and combination fire and EMS departments through the use of citizen advocates. Fire Corps provides resources for departments to utilize citizen advocates in non-operational roles so they can develop, implement, and sustain programs and services that will help their department meet the needs of their community.
